Christopher Denis De Vos of Mona Drive in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 31 year old admitted assault on October 2 last year and criminal damage on October 20.
The court heard he’d collapsed after drinking at his home and drunkenly lashed out as ambulance staff tried to help him, and a few weeks later caused £185 damage to the inside of a police van when he was again arrested.
Defence advocate James Peterson said many of his client’s troubles were caused by alcohol, and the breakup of a relationship.
Mrs Hughes ordered De Vos to do 100 hours community service as well as putting him on probation for two years.
De Vos will also have to pay almost £400 compensation and £125 towards costs and Mrs Hughes banned him from entering on-licensed premises or buying alcohol for 12 months.
