Matthew James Dadds appeared before Deemster Montgomerie at a Court of General Gaol Delivery this week.
The 27 year old had previously pleaded guilty to ten counts of possessing a total of 70 images between January and July.
Dadd admitted he'd been viewing such images on and off from the age of 15 and told police he was glad he'd been caught so he could seek help.
The court heard police raided Dadds' home in Murray's Road in Douglas in July following a tip-off, and found the images on his laptop.
Dadds, who had no previous convictions, cooperated with officers and spent four months in prison waiting for his case to be heard.
Deemster Mongtomerie said: "The damage done to children to produce these images is immeasurable. Each time the image is viewed the child is being further victimised."
He sentenced Dadds to a total of eight months in prison, placed him on the sex offenders register for five years, and made a sexual offences prevention order limiting his internet use for five years.
