A man who broke the speed limit thought a police officer was a builder wanting a lift.
44 year old Nicholas Joseph Lowe of Clagh Vane in Ballasalla appeared before magistrates and admitted speeding and failing to stop for police.
He was clocked at 43mph in a 30mph zone on Ballagawne Road in Colby just before 8pm on December 11 - driving past an officer in high visibility clothing.
Magistrates fined him £220, put four penalty points on his licence and ordered him to pay £50 costs.
