A man who spat at a prison officer and headbutted a healthcare assistant has walked free from prison because he’d already served his sentence.
Aaron Lee Barnett of no fixed abode appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes via a live videolink from prison.
At an earlier hearing, the 24 year old pleaded guilty to assault, assaulting a peace officer, attempted criminal damage and threatening to cause criminal damage.
The court heard Barnett lost his temper after an assessment found he didn’t need to be detained at the Manannan Court mental health facility on June 21.
He rang police, threatening to smash windows unless he was admitted, before headbutting a staff member - and while in prison, he spat in a female officer’s face.
Mrs Hughes jailed him for a total of 30 weeks, noting Barnett would be released after already serving 15 weeks.
