A man who stamped on his girlfriend during a sustained attack has been remanded in custody.
Paul Allan Bollon of Heather Crescent in Pulrose appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 36 year old admitted assault on January 15, and a charge of causing actual bodily harm was discharged.
Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the hearing Bollon’s partner was with friends in Hillside Avenue in Douglas when he arrived and began assaulting her.
The court heard he slapped her, strangled her and ripped out her earring as well as stamping on her body and head during the incident.
After hearing he’d been given a suspended sentence by the Court of General Gaol Delivery for a violent offence last September, Mrs Hughes said it would be appropriate for a deemster to sentence him and decide whether that suspended jail term should be activated.
She remanded Bollon in custody to appear in the higher court on May 13.
