A man who tried to strangle his girlfriend in a Douglas hotel will be sentenced next month.
Nicholas Stephen Brough of Westmoreland Road appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The court heard on March 18 he’d been drinking with his partner in Douglas to mark St Patrick’s Day.
But when they returned to their room in the Ellan Vannin Hotel on Loch Promenade, an argument broke out.
61 year old Brough dragged her to the ground and put his hands around her throat - when she broke free he punched her twice in the face.
Prosecutor Roger Kane said he then fled the scene and drove to Jurby Airfield before contacting police and being arrested.
Mrs Hughes bailed Brough in the sum of £500 on condition he doesn’t contact his victim or enter Westmoreland Road.
He’ll appear again for sentencing on May 14.
