Man jailed for attacking wife in heating row

A man from Douglas who knocked his wife to the floor and continued punching her in a row about heating has been jailed.

39 year old Ivaylo Blagov Stanchev of Clifton Terrace admitted assault when he appeared before magistrates.

The court heard his wife was screaming and begging him to stop on March 19 - the attack left her with injuries to her face, head, back and shoulders.

Jailing Stanchev for 16 week, magistrates told him "the message must go out that violence against one's partner will not be tolerated".
