A Douglas man who’s admitted a five-month crime spree has been jailed, banned from driving and given a licensed premises ban.
Charlton Andrew Gary Watterson of Empire Terrace in Douglas admitted a total of six charges and appeared at Douglas Courthouse before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes for sentencing.
The 23 year old pleaded guilty to stealing bottles of wine from the Co-op on November 1 and an Ellan Vannin Fuels filling station on January 21.
He also admitted being in a stolen car on October 23 and possessing three tablets of a class B drug on the same date - as well as handling more than £1,500 of stolen makeup from an Onchan beauty salon and punching his girlfriend causing actual bodily harm on February 18.
The court heard Watterson was an alcoholic who’d committed the offences in what his advocate described as "a haze of alcohol".
Mrs Hughes jailed him for a total of 30 weeks and ordered him to pay £750 compensation for the stolen goods after they were recovered damaged.
She also banned him from driving, entering licensed premises and buying or being sold alcohol for twelve months.
