A man who couldn’t accept the breakup of his relationship sent dozens of texts, emails and Facebook messages to his former lover despite her telling him to stop.
Peter Michael Birchall of Richmond Close in Douglas admitted harassment between March and May when he appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
Prosecutor Barry Swain said after the couple split up following an 18-month relationship the woman reported him to police over sexually explicit emails sent from dummy addresses he'd set up - and after police warned him to stop she received 18 phone calls, three emails and three texts as well as more messages on social media.
Birchall’s advocate Darren Taubitz said his client maintained not all of the emails were from him but admitted he’d sent the vast majority of the messages.
Magistrates adjourned the case until October 24 for psychiatric and pre-sentencing reports, bailing the 50 year old in the sum of £500 on condition he doesn’t contact his victim.
