A man who got carried away with audience participation during a show at the Gaiety Theatre has been handed a fine.
Adam Alan Cowin of The Bretney in Jurby appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 37 year old admitted resisting police officers on Harris promenade in Douglas on September 2.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the court staff at the theatre had asked Cowin to leave during a production because he was drunk – he refused and had to be ejected by security staff.
When police spoke to him outside, he became aggressive and officers had to use incapacitant spray to subdue and arrest him.
Defence advocate Ian Kermode said Cowin had simply been over-enthusiastic joining in the play, and couldn’t understand why he’d been asked to leave.
Mr Brooks fined him £600 and ordered him to pay £125 costs.
