Man found guilty of illegal fishing

A Port Erin man has been charged £2,000 after being found guilty of illegal crab and lobster fishing.

Phillip Tasker was charged after a routine patrol last month but had other charges relating to sea fisheries violation dropped.

Although not disqualified from fishing on this occasion, authorities can enforce this on Mr Tasker in the future.

DEFA is reminding fisherman that gaps are required to be fitted to all pots used to catch lobsters and crabs.
