Man fined over van crash

A bricklayer's been fined after clipping an oncoming car with his van.

Phillip Eamon Blair of Castlemona Avenue in Douglas appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

The 39 year old admitted driving without due care and attention, having no tax and having an expired driving licence on October 22 last year.

Prosecutor Barry Swain told the hearing Blair had strayed over the centre line of the Peel to St John's Road near Corlett's Quarry and hit the other vehicle at around 50mph.

Both vehicles suffered damage in the incident, and Blair told police the crash had been his fault.

Magistrates fined him a total of £760, ordered him to pay £125 costs and imposed five penalty points on his licence.
