Man fined for leaving car with no tax or insurance

A man from Castletown who left his car parked on the road without insurance or tax has been disqualified from driving.

35-year-old Nicholas Lowe was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse earlier this week after pleading guilty to both charges.

The court heard how his Ford Focus had come to the attention of police in August last year when it was parked on Barrule Drive in Onchan.

The vehicle's tax had expired at the end of February and Lowe had transferred the insurance to his new vehicle.

His advocate said he had advertised the car for sale but the potential buyer never concluded the deal - it was eventually scrapped.

Sentencing him Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told him he should have moved the vehicle off-road and fined him £500.

She also endorsed his license with six penalty points which took Lowe over the allowed limit, resulting in him being disqualified from driving for 12 months.
