Pushing a woman to the floor has landed a man with a £600 fine.
Brian Mark Corlett of Ballamillaghyn in Douglas appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 59 year old pleaded guilty to a single count of assault on May 29.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing Corlett got into a drunken argument with the woman outside Elegance Taxis on Market Street in Douglas shortly before 2.30am.
Taxi staff watched in shock as Corlett raised his hand to her throat and pushed her over - he was later arrested by police on Crellin’s Hill and claimed he’d been assaulted first.
Mr Brooks told him his assault had been a case of 'drink in, sense out'.
As well as fining Corlett, he ordered him to pay £100 compensation to his victim and £125 costs.
