Residents in Anagh Coar have been reassured that nobody was hurt in an incident late last night.
Police were called to a domestic disturbance at a house there.
On arrival they found one of the people involved had barricaded themselves inside the premises and was making threats against officers.
They say they had to use force, and police defence tactics, in order to enter the building and detain the offender.
However police are keen to reassure neighbours that witnessed what happened that no one was injured in the process.
Due to an ongoing investigation further details about the incident have not been released.
