Michael Anthony Brown of Bircham Avenue Close in Ramsey appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 29 year old pleaded not guilty to attempting to remove criminal property from the Isle of Man last November.
Prosecutor Rachel Braidwood told the court police arrested Mr Brown after Post Office staff discovered the money inside a plastic container in a parcel he’d posted.
In a prepared statement during interview, he told police he’d been paid £20 to post it, but wouldn’t name the friend who’d promised him the money.
And Mr Brown said he’d thought the packages contained photos.
Magistrates bailed him in the sum of £500 and he’ll next appear in court for a pre-trial review on July 1.
