A man’s alleged to have breached lockdown regulations to go to his ex-girlfriend’s home and attack her.
Ian Ronald Goldsmith of Tromode House in Braddan appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse via a live video link.
He denies breaking the Island’s Covid regulations and causing actual bodily harm.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court the 44 year old was arrested on April 29 after police were called to an incident on Derby Square in Douglas.
The court heard Mr Goldsmith is alleged to have grabbed his ex-girlfriend by her throat before headbutting her, but when he was arrested he told officers she’d punched him.
Magistrates granted him bail in the sum of £500 on condition he wears an electronic tag, obeys a 7pm to 6am curfew, doesn’t contact his alleged victim or another witness in the case, and doesn’t buy alcohol or consume it in public.
He’s next due to appear in court on June 4.
