A UK man caught trying to leave the Island with almost £48,000 has been refused bail.
Sam Kenneth Lee of Brow Close in Barnsley appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 30 year old sales director is charged with attempting to remove criminal property at the Sea Terminal in Douglas on September 25, but hasn’t yet entered a plea.
Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the hearing Mr Lee was stopped as he queued for the ferry, and inside his car police found £47,970.
A deleted mobile phone video also led officers to a second hidden compartment, which was empty.
A bail application was refused and he was remanded in custody until September 29.
