A man’s been remanded in custody, charged with assaulting his girlfriend and breaching the conditions of his early release from prison.
Ian Ronald Goldsmith of Empire Terrace in Douglas represented himself when he appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
He hasn’t yet entered pleas to assault on January 6 at his girlfriend’s home in Derby Square and breaching his short-term licence the same day.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court Mr Goldsmith’s partner called police after he’s alleged to have slapped her five or six times and grabbed her by the throat in a row after he’d been drinking rum.
Mrs Hughes turned down a bail application and remanded him in custody to appear in court again on January 12.
