Man charged over £1,000 for criminal damage and assault

A night out which ended in a drunken fight has cost a Douglas man more than £1,000.

Michael Westhead of Bucks Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

The 41-year-old admitted criminal damage and being drunk and disorderly outside Jaks Bar on Loch Promenade in Douglas on April 4.

Police spotted him throwing punches at a man on the ground and stopped to intervene, arresting him as he shouted abuse.

CCTV showed he'd smashed a window during the altercation.

Westhead was fined a total of £1,000, ordered to pay £150 compensation and £125 costs.
