A heroin addict who had a dying cannabis plant in his kitchen has been ordered to do community service.
Rex William Chambers of Brookhill Road in Ramsey appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 59 year old admitted possessing heroin, cultivating cannabis and criminal damage on June 26.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing Chambers threw a bottle at a door, smashing a pane of glass, after an argument with friends.
He was later caught with a Kinder Egg containing 1.4 grammes of heroin worth £322 - and when officers searched his home they found a single wilted cannabis plant under a lamp on a kitchen worktop.
The court heard the plant could have been worth up to £2,500 but defence advocate James Peterson told the court the plant was unlikely to have produced any drugs.
Chambers was ordered to do 90 hours of community service and pay £125 costs.
He must also pay £300 to Ramsey Commissioners as compensation for the damage he caused.
