A man’s admitted defying a driving ban which was imposed more than 20 years ago.
Paul Ian Carey of Jurby West appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 53 year old admitted driving while disqualified in Ramsey on October 28.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court police followed Carey’s Range Rover from Albert Street before stopping it on Tower Street shortly before 12.30pm.
Carey told officers he was subject to a driving ban, which had been imposed in 1999, because he hadn’t retaken his driving test.
Magistrates fined him £1,000 and ordered him to pay £50 costs – they also imposed six penalty points.
