A man accused of inventing a fictional TT campsite and defrauding visitors of £17,000 in bookings will have his case heard at a Court of General Gaol Delivery.
Ian Moffatt of Randalstown in County Antrim was excused attendance at a hearing before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 34 year old is facing nine charges of fraud by false deception between May and June 2018 but hasn’t yet entered any pleas.
The court heard he’s alleged to have taken bookings for TT 2018 via a local travel company, knowing he didn’t have anywhere to accommodate campers.
The hearing was told courts in Northern Ireland can’t be used for appearances via live videolink, and Mr Moffatt can’t come to the Island while our borders are closed.
Mrs Hughes said the case was too serious to be heard in the summary court and bailed Mr Moffatt to appear again for committal on August 11.
