Interviewees also want potential candidates to face public questioning prior to their vote
The Isle of Man’s Manx People Power survey, has published their first set of results.
The Island wide survey, commissioned by Freedom to Flourish campaigner Hugh Davidson, is finding out the views of the Manx public on the political process and is said to be the largest of its kind ever carried out here.
Most significant of this first batch of results are the views on how the role of Chief Minister should be determined.
This is particularly apt following the news this week that Chief Minister Tony Brown will step down from politics following September’s General Election.
Professor Hugh Davidson, the man behind the survey, says that 500 of the 1,050 interviews have been completed, and among the findings it's revealed that the public want to see the Chief Minister post decided by a public vote, they also want potential candidates to face public questioning. The full findings of the survey will be released in August.
