Today's Heysham crossing has been delayed until the much later time of 9pm, as a consequence the return crossing usually scheduled to get in at 5.45pm will now leave Heysham at 03.00am on Christmas Day.
It follows days of disruption with a number of services to Heysham cancelled yesterday (Monday) and over the weekend.
The Steam Packet Company has apologised to passengers whose travel plans have been disrupted.
Chief executive Mark Woodward says it’s unusual for the weather to be so bad for such a prolonged period of time.
He says a number of points are taken into consideration when cancelling a service:
