A London woman has walked free from court after being found not guilty of smuggling drugs to the Island and having criminal damage charges dropped.
Zuhra Abukar of Freegrove Road in Islington appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse via a live video link from the Isle of Man Prison.
She’d been charged with producing methamphetamine at the Sea Terminal on April 20, damaging a toilet and shower in Laxey on May 3 and an Audi car between April 25 and May 4.
However, she was acquitted of producing drugs after a trial at Douglas Courthouse, and Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing a man who’d complained about the damage no longer wanted to press charges.
She offered no evidence in two counts of criminal damage and both charges were marked dismissed.
Magistrates heard Miss Abukar had spent 73 days in custody during the case, and awarded defence costs.
