More than 200 secondary school students are taking part in the International Linguistics Olympiad on the Isle of Man this week.
Representatives from 33 countries will be tested against some of the toughest language and linguistic puzzles.
The contest is one of 13 International Science Olympiads held around the world each year, and was officially declared open at the Gaiety Theatre on Monday.
Government has wished the Island's team 'the best of luck'.
