The Manx Powerlifting Association has been invited to send a team to the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Auckland at the end of November.
Founder Lisa Grant says as the sport isn't recognised by Isle of Man Sport, they're not eligible for assistance.
Costs are expected to be over £2,000 per athlete, with 12 so far selected.
Any businesses interested in a sponsorship package can email manxpowerlifting@gmail.com
