 
                            A local MHK says he's been told some teachers are telling children to "go meat free to save the planet."
Tim Johnston, Ayre and Michael MHK and former president of the Manx National Farmers' Union - made the claim in the House of Keys earlier this week.
He had begun by asking Education Minister Julie Edge what her department considers to be a balanced diet.
Following her answer, Mr Johnston made the claim, saying he's 'received correspondence' some teachers are promoting vegan and vegaterian diets:
