Local man hopes BEM honour will boost profile of Chernobyl charity

A man awarded a BEM by the Queen for his services Friends of Chernobyl's Children is grateful the charity is being recognised for its work.

Norman Rivers has spent 15 years co-ordinating the recuperative care of children affected by the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe. 
 
As part of those efforts, 20 children to head to the Island for one month each year - where activities, health checks and host families are arranged for their care.
 
Norman says the award isn't for him - it's for the charity, the children, and the people of the Isle of Man:
