A Liverpool man has admitted trying to smuggle more than £47,000 off the Island in a hidden compartment in his car.
Thomas William Harrison of Java Road in Walton appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to a single count of attempting to remove criminal property at the Sea Terminal in Douglas on February 24.
The court heard police stopped his Renault Twingo as he got on the ferry after officers smelled cannabis - Harrison was so nervous he was physically sick.
In a secret compartment under the passenger seat, officers found £47,530 in four packages, and Harrison answered "no comment" to all questions put to him in interview.
He was remanded in custody and committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, where he'll next appear for sentencing on April 19.
