Peel lifeboat have issued a stark warning to boat owners that they must be fully prepared in the event of a tragedy.
Late on Friday evening two men were rescued from a small open boat which had run out of fuel in the Glen Maye area having spent the day around the Calf of Man.
It had ran out of fuel, had little safety gear on board and no VHF radio in case of an emergency.
An RNLI spokesman said; 'It was imperative for all vessels going to sea to be fully equipped with plenty of fuel for the journey, lifejackets and a VHF radio as an absolute minimum. This rescue could so easily have ended in a tragedy.'
