150,000 People Die Each year as a Result of Lack of First Aid Knowledge Among Public
A pocket sized guide that could potentially be the difference between a life saved, and a life lost has been made available to Island residents.
The St John's Ambulance service have put together a mini book of basic first aid advice that could prove vital during an emergency.
The initiative is building on a UK wide campaign by St John’s earlier in the year, which identified that upto, 150,000 people a year die as a result of poor first aid knowledge.
It’s been found that 6 in 10 people wouldn’t feel comfortable administering first aid in the event they needed too.
Advice is offered on five common emergencies: Choking, heart attack, severe bleeding, dealing with an unconscious person and dealing with someone who isn’t breathing.
You can obtain the guides from St Johns Ambulance Isle of Man, all proceeds go back into the charity.
