Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood has become patron for the Manx Educational Foundation.
The MEF was set up as a charity to promote education, economic growth and the development of local talent.
The charity's most high profile project is to see the creation of an international centre for technology that could accomodate students from around the world.
His Excellency will be bringing his extensive experience of international development to the role, given his distinguished diplomatic career that preceeded his post on the Isle of Man.
The Governor says he looks forward to supporting the group's vision in his capacity as patron.
