A political party on the island is calling on Tynwald to protect vulnerable families in the wake of news that gas prices could rise by more than 27% this winter.
It's been announced that gas prices on the Isle of Man could rise by 27.5% after the island's energy regulator proposed an "unfortunate but unavoidable" increase to tariff caps.
The Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority (CURA) has asked Tynwald to approve the 2.1p per unit increase due to an "unprecedented rise in global prices".
The Liberal Vannin Party said while they appreciate it is a global problem, the Manx government must make sure people are not hit with bills they can't afford to pay.
Following a global gas shortage, Manx Gas is seeking Tynwald approval to increase prices by more than 27%.
