Wait For Social Security Loans For Newly Released Prisoners to Become Thing of Past
The Department of Social Care is taking legislation to Tynwald next month geared toward helping prisoners readapt to society when they’re released from jail.
As it stands social budgeting loans are offered to the offenders upon their release, to help with things like daily maintenance and housing deposits.
But its felt that the month gap between release and receiving the money is too lengthy and making immediate reintegration difficult.
If the legislation is put in place it will mean that the ex-convicts will be able to recieve their money immediately upon release.
