Garff Commissioners say the street lights on Laxey Promenade will be fixed soon.
They say they were switched off because the LED lamps were at the end of their life, which is 10 years.
The contractor has told the local authority the works can’t be completed in bad weather or when there are vehicles and people around because it wouldn’t be safe for a cherry picker to operate.
The commissioners say there will be an attempt to carry out the works next week.
