Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson has lost a battle in the High Court over the public rights of way outside his Langness home.
Deemster David Doyle ruled yesterday against a number of defendants, including Jeremy and his wife Frances, and in favour of the Department of Infrastructure.
He granted the department permission to amend the definitive map of the area to include the paths which were deemed as public rights of way by inspector Roy Hickey.
The Clarksons, who were not in court, objected to this being granted citing a breach of their human rights – particularly in relation to one of the paths which runs close to their kitchen window.
Deemster Doyle said that while balancing the rights and freedoms of the couple, with the freedom of the public to use lawfully established public rights of way, the balance came down firmly in favour of the public.
