The landlord registration scheme is voluntary until 2022, when it will become a legal requirement.
The Isle of Man government is encouraging landlords on the Isle of Man to sign up to a new register before it's made compulsory next year.
The Voluntary Landlord Registration scheme is free for the first five years and if landlords register now, they will be automatically transferred onto the mandatory register in 2022.
In July 2021 Tynwald formally approved the Landlord Registration (Private Housing) Bill 2020, which will eventually mean more official scrutiny of rental conditions and safety standards.
Currently, the Isle of Man does not have any formal regulation of the private rental sector.
