Two charities will hold a new event later this week set to light up the Onchan night.
Beach Buddies and Breast Cancer Now will be hosting 'Lanterns on the Lake' at Onchan Park on Saturday from 6.45pm which will see the waters filled with a display of floating lily pads and lanterns similar to events held in the Far East.
Pupils at Onchan School are helping to design and make the lanterns going on show whilst the event is being backed by sponsor, Manx Telecom.
A spokesman for the organisers say they hope for good weather and to see a good turnout from residents whilst aiming for the idea to grow into a regular occasion for the future.
