A figure devoted to the Manx language has died.
82-year-old Dr Brian Stowell has passed away following a long illness.
He devoted his life to academia and linguistics, having learnt Manx at a young age, and also Irish.
In a post on social media Culture Vannin said the Isle of Man 'owes him a great debt of gratitude which will perhaps only be fully understood in the weeks, months and years to come.
