The long awaited Kerbside Collection Scheme has finally been launched today.
The recycling initiative will be available in Douglas, Braddan and Onchan.
Homes in these areas will be given two plastic containers to seperate out paper, steel, aluminium, glass and plastics from their rubbish.
Representitives from the Department of Local Government were at the launch at the Douglas Ballacottier Headquarters.
MLC Dudley Butt, who has the responsibility for waste management says he hopes that the scheme will eventually be taken Island wide.
The containers will be distributed to homes in the next fortnight.
