The Island's Fire and Rescue Service has issued advice to stay safe on Valentine's Day.
In a Facebook post, it says candles may be romantic - but they can become serious fire risks if not looked after properly.
Its advice is to blow out candles before things get too heated, and keep your eyes on the cooking as well as your date.
Firefighters say keep the fire where it belongs: in your heart, and not your kitchen!
