Karran praised for 'remarkable contribution' as he officially leaves office

Outgoing MHK Peter Karran has been praised for his "remarkable contribution to political life" on the Isle of Man.

The House of Keys was officially dissolved yesterday meaning the Onchan representative has served his last day in post.

The outspoken and long term critic of government announced he was standing down in April this year.

He was first elected in 1985 and was returned six times - during his career he also founded the Liberal Vannin Party.

Paying tribute to him in the last sitting of Tynwald President Steve Rodan described him as a 'champion of causes':
