Jurby residents ‘want their old bus service back’

Thursday, 8 August 2019 06:17

By Ewan Gawne - Local Democracy Reporter

Jurby residents claim the roll out of government’s ‘dial-a-ride service’ is isolating the community, and want to see the return of regular buses in the village.

That’s according to those who attended a public meeting this week (8 August) to give local politicians feedback on the ‘demand responsive transport’.

It was launched in April to replace the scheduled buses at off-peak times, as part of Bus Vannin’s ‘connect villages’ service for communities in the north.

The meeting was arranged by Ayre and Michael MHKs Alfred Cannan and Tim Baker, who’ll take these views back to the Department of Infrastructure in the hope of finding a solution.
