Jumping red light costs woman £250

55-year-old Constance Rigby appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday where she pleaded guilty to not conforming to a traffic direction. 

 

The court heard how she was travelling towards Douglas at around 8.40am on March 3rd when she failed to stop at the traffic lights at Ballagarey, colliding with another vehicle.

 

Her advocate told the court she'd been "blinded by the sun" and that she was not a "habitual ambler gambler" - despite a caution for the same offence less than three months earlier.

 

He said she'd been driving for 38 years without conviction and wasn't rushing or distracted - adding she'd started a new job and was unfamiliar with her route to work.

 

Sentencing her Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told her taking risks was "always dangerous" - she endorsed her license with three penalty points and also ordered her to pay prosecution costs of £50.
