A plumber with "anger management issues" has been jailed after attempting to stop police arresting his girlfriend.
26-year-old Darren Noel Dooley, of Oak Avenue in Douglas, got in the way of three officers at a property in Auldyn Walk in Ramsey.
He also pushed a female PC out of the front door and gripped her arms causing bruising during the incident on December 20th last year.
Police had to use PAVA incapacitant spray to restrain Dooley following his outburst - he later admitted to obstructing police and resisting a police officer in the execution of her duty.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday Dooley's advocate said he'd wrongly assumed that police needed a warrant to enter the property and was being "overprotective".
He said he pushed the female officer because he "wanted to move her out the way" adding Dooley felt a "sense of shame" about his offending.
Sentencing him Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told Dooley "there was no justification for your actions on the night of the offences".
Handing him a 12 week custodial sentence she told him "you may wish to reflect on your anger management issues during your time in custody".
