A courts’ heard a man’s stormy relationship with his ex-girlfriend and problem with alcohol led to him assaulting a police officer.
John Anthony Green of Stanley Mount in Ramsey appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
He’d previously admitted provoking behaviour, damaging a gate and an assault on a police officer.
The court heard he’d been drunk when he argued with his girlfriend at her home, and damaged her gate before meeting the officer in the Coop car park in Ramsey on February 7.
He pushed the female officer over and she had to use incapacitant spray to bring him under control.
Mrs Hughes sentenced him to a total of 14 weeks in prison, and banned him from licensed premises for six months.
