Mark Cox cycles 580 miles to raise awareness of prostate cancer
Isle Of Man resident Mark Cox, from Union Mills, represented the Isle of Man during Male Cancer Awareness Campaign's East to West Challenge which saw Mark and a team of 7 other Near Naked cyclists complete 580 miles in 6 days, from Southend on Sea, Essex to Galway in Ireland.
The near naked cyclists pedalled across the UK in Near Naked suits to highlight the need for men to look out for signs of prostate cancer. Male Cancer Awareness Campaign believes many men die from prostate cancer because of embarrassment in talking about the symptoms. It is hoped that the humorous suits help reduce any embarrassment associated with male cancer.
Mark Cox commented on how the suits turn heads:
'The public reaction to us riding along the roads and through towns was great, everyone was looking twice and commenting. It was a real pick me up and encouraged everyone to keep pedalling. It really made me feel like I was involved in something very special and worthwhile'.
Male Cancer Awareness Campaign would like to thank Mark for taking part in the East to West challenge, becoming the Isle of Man's first resident to gain their Near Naked status and raising over £600 for the charity.
