Cost of living on the rise in August
The latest inflation figures have just been released, inflation as measured by the Retail Prices Index shows an increase in August to 6.8% from 6.4% in July.
The annual rate of inflation excluding housing costs was also up from 7.0% in July to 7.6% in August.
Looking at the last 12 months, there's been some notable rises with the cost of living with gas rising by 25.7%, oil and other fuels up by 25.0% and clothing and footwear with a 17.6% increase in the last year.
